The operations are built on an innovative use of natural materials and proven and patented manufacturing know-how. Konto prides itself on being an ecological, non-toxic, organic, high-quality choice for different applications.
Ecological thinking is at the heart of Konto’s operations, from product development to manufacturing and end-use. Materials are locally sourced, and all waste is recycled back into the manufacturing process.
No water is required in production and even the excess heat produced by the machinery is used to warm the facilities during the winter months. Konto draws inspiration from Finnish nature to invent new ecological products for sound absorption and design purposes. The best characteristics of natural fibres are combined to generate unique new products.
The company name "Konto" is a local word for peat. In Konto’s hometown, the Karvia people have gone into the swamp to harvest "Konto" throughout the centuries. Thus, the word Konto represents both its local roots and the main raw ingredient of peat moss.
Natural fibres in products
The current range of acoustic products is based on long-term development. Since the start, peat’s excellent natural qualities have been revealed. Surface peat has a unique capacity either to absorb or to insulate depending on the treatment. Surface peat is also very durable and easy to shape or mould. Konto acoustic products combine and optimise these features offering new and ecological ways to absorb sound.

Surface peat regenerates relatively quickly, while being recyclable and a safe natural fibre to use.
