The improved acoustics for Erste Bank’s staff restaurant and cafe
Located near the Danube, next to Árpád bridge on Pest side, the Erste Office Tower is home to more than 2000 employees. The staff restaurant and cafe are located on the ground floor. Thanks to the large curved glass wall the diners can enjoy an ample amount of natural light. Materials used in restaurants have often hard surfaces not only for sleek design but also for easy maintenance. Sound bounces between hard surfaces and creates an echo. In places of large crowds, the echo becomes overwhelming. What should be a pleasant break from work, a shared meal with colleagues, can quickly become a stressful experience due to the continuous echo and background noise.
Erste Bank had already commissioned a professional acoustic survey before involving Konto. The survey gave us the framework to develop the solution. The quantity of panels needed and plans for the interior design were drafted in-house.
Approx. 200m2 of 30mm Konto acoustic panels were installed on the ceiling and on the walls to remedy the echo and to reduce the noise level significantly.
